Please join us for the Contested Streets event, a continuation of the KC Ecological Urbanism lecture series. See the poster link above for details…

The screening of the documentary, Contested Streets, will be followed by a panel discussion from local experts. Be a part of the this informational and brainstorming session to help decide which two streets will be the focus of furthur study and design as we work to visualize ‘green streets’ in the urban and suburban KC metro area.

A short synopsis:

Contested Streets is a T.A. produced, Cicala Filmworks made documentary that explores the rich diversity of New York City street life before the introduction of automobiles and shows how New York can follow the example of other modern cities that have reclaimed their streets as vibrant public spaces.

Contested Streets features new footage of reclaimed streets in London, Paris and Copenhagen and interviews with New York savvy notables such as Ken Jackson, Mike Wallace, Bob Kiley, Majora Carter, Kathryn Wylde, Enrique Peñalosa, James Howard Kunstler and many more.

Bike Month NYC features over 150 events, each as unique as the bikes pictured here.
